Here at Castel Bolognese, instead, were the sons of the people to run to call the wars of independence, of Garibaldi, the Cairoli brothers in the name of the most genuine love of country.
According to official records, however, incomplete when compared with other lists, 97 participated in the castle wars of independence in 1848-1849, 81 other campaigns of 1859 and 1860, some of which aggregates to Garibaldi's expedition of the "Thousand", 53 were the third war of independence in 1866. But honor is the pinnacle in the countryside of Rome are even 8 out of 70 volunteers rushed the castle in 1867 at Villa Glori, 45 were those who fought in Monterotondo and Mentone and some of them went to Porta Pia in 1870.
The veterans of these companies, many of them former partisans, were used to gather daily at the Inn of the well, in a widening of Via Morini, behind the apse of the church of San Petronio. Here, in the shade of a pergola, sitting on wooden benches, sipping a glass of Albania, perhaps even dipping a brazadèla 'dla cros "relive the heroic deeds of their life spent in Italy and had real history books home for the many children who came to listen.
It is therefore with pride that Castel Bolognese celebrates 150 years Unification of Italy with various initiatives and also shows a historical documentary, which will run throughout the month of October, where his children will remember who gave so much for the ideal of unified Italy.
